The United States continues to be one of New Zealand’s most important tourism markets, with new data showing strong growth in both monthly and annual visitor numbers.

Stats NZ’s latest international travel release shows that in November 2025, 40,826 visitors arrived from the United States, an increase of 10 percent compared with the same month in 2024. Of the 347,577 total overseas visitor arrivals to New Zealand that month, 12 percent were from the United States, up from 11 percent in November 2019. Australia remained the largest source of overseas visitors, followed by the United States, China and the United Kingdom.

Looking at the year to November 2025, total overseas visitor arrivals reached 3.48 million, an increase of 214,000 compared with the previous year. Visitor arrivals from the United States totalled 385,413 over the year, marking a record annual level for US travel to New Zealand.

Overall visitor numbers are continuing to move closer to pre-COVID levels. Overseas arrivals in November 2025 were 93 percent of the level recorded in November 2019, before the pandemic. With US visitor numbers continuing to rise, New Zealand is on track to fully recover international tourism volumes.
