A new Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between New Zealand and the US state of Colorado marks an exciting step forward in strengthening bilateral innovation and commercial ties.

Signed in Denver by New Zealand Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, Hon Judith Collins KC, and Colorado Governor Jared Polis, the agreement is designed to promote collaboration in high-tech sectors including aerospace, quantum, and geothermal technologies.

The MOC also opens up new opportunities for New Zealand to deepen its commercial relationships in Colorado, particularly in entrepreneurship, venture capital, and the broader start-up ecosystem. Colorado is home to a thriving innovation economy and is recognised as a leader in the US in emerging technologies, making it a valuable partner for New Zealand’s tech and business communities.

State-level partnerships like this are an important way to grow connections, drive joint research and development, and unlock commercial opportunities that benefit both economies; the NZUS Council welcomes this development and looks forward to seeing further progress in this important strand of the bilateral relationship.
