The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade has released a new market report looking at Los Angeles’ growing role as a global sports hub, and the opportunities this creates for New Zealand businesses.

With major international sporting events on the horizon – including the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 2026, the Summer Olympics in 2028, and the Rugby World Cup in 2031 – Los Angeles is positioning itself as a centre of activity, investment, and international engagement. This concentration of events is set to draw millions of visitors and generate significant commercial opportunities across tourism, infrastructure, creative industries, and technology.

For New Zealand, there is strong potential to benefit from this momentum. Our expertise in areas such as event management, creative media production, agrifood exports, sustainable infrastructure, and tourism services is well recognised internationally. The report highlights that New Zealand exporters, innovators, and investors could find new avenues for collaboration and visibility by engaging with Los Angeles’ expanding sports economy.
