This week marks a high point in New Zealand–United States diplomatic engagement, with Trade and Investment Minister Todd McClay meeting with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins in Washington. The discussions focused on the recent US tariff hike affecting New Zealand exporters, and the need to work together to address the  trade distorting practices of third countries that impact on the New Zealand and US dairy industries.

This was complemented by Foreign Minister Winston Peters’ talks earlier today with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to reinforce cooperation on defence, trade, regional security in the Pacific, and critical international issues including Gaza and Ukraine.

Such intensive ministerial dialogue, in both Wellington and Washington, highlights the resilience and dynamism of the NZ/US partnership.
